Hold It Up Collective consists of three socially engaged Queer artists based in Leeds – Frankie Mazzotta, Florian Hynam, and Kristina Nenova. They first started collaborating while studying Fine Art at university and decided to form a collective and continue working together. Their work concentrates on the usage of art, banner making, archives and collection of oral histories as tools of activism and promoting a sense of community. They do so through art, collaborating, facilitating workshops, and curating longer term projects such as Section 28: 20 years on – a curated programme of events with invited artists, writers, activists, teachers, and archivists. They also run Bookish Type’s Leeds Queer History tours.
