Andi Walker an artist based in Leeds specialising in textiles. Their studio practise is deeply rooted in process and encompasses three interconnected fields: materials, ink and cloth. Live performances plays a crucial role in presenting their work, from interactive public engagements within gallery spaces to staged performative events that incorporate dyeing techniques for creating unique painterly fabrics which are records of the event.

Andi has created designs for a wealth of dance companies, organisations and choreographers including: Extended Play / Jamaal Burkmar, Nicky Murman, Leeds Year of Culture 2023, Watson Dance Project, for verve: (LA) HORDE, Sita Ostheimer, Botis Seva, Maxine Doyle and Lenka Vagnerová, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Gecko, Sonia Boyce, We Are Ramped CIC and Sardoville Dance Company. Andi’s work has also been exhibited at Sunny Bank Mills, Huddersfield Art Gallery, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Array Store, AIR Gallery, Royal College of Art, Hockney Gallery, Fashion & Textiles Museum and The Cob Gallery. Other design work has been in collaboration with performance artist Franko B, photographer Jac Callaghan and London’s iconic cabaret club Madam JoJos.

Quilts have become increasingly central to Andi’s work due to their remarkable ability to hold and convey stories. Andi explore’s the quilt’s potential not just as a functional textile but as a canvas for storytelling, experimentation, and emotional expression.
