Annabel has over 30 years’ experience as a senior arts professional, having worked for touring companies and independent artists, major producing and receiving theatres, co-founder and Artistic Director of Danceworks UK (DW) for 17 years until 2010 – a unique organisation with a national and international reputation for commissioning, producing and presenting high quality dance seasons, on all scales; A few (DW) highlights from across the 1990’s and 2000’s include;

Regularly collaborating with Michael Clark ( & Company); Wim Vandekeybus / Ultima Vez; NDT2; Stephen Petonio; Wendy Houstoun; Luca Silvestini / Protein; Charlotte Vincent / VDT; Lea Anderson/ The Cholmondeley’s and Featherstonehaughs; Ramón Baeza and Montse Sánchez/ Increpacion Danza; Jasmin Vardimon; Richard Alston; Christopher Bruce/ Rambert Dance Company; Wayne McGregor/ Random.

As well as presenting other notable artists and their companies; Deborah Colker; Merce Cunningham; Garry Stewart/ADT; Mark Murphy/ V-TOL; Nigel Charnock; Michael Keegan Dolan / Fabulous Beast; Rodrigo Pardo (Toilet Tango); Beau Geste (Transports Exceptional); Rafael Bonachela; Hofesh Shechter; TC Howard and emerging artist, Gary Clarke.

She was also an original and active member of both the Dance Touring Partnership and Dance Consortium, representing Sheffield Theatres and regularly partnered with Dance Umbrella whilst leading Danceworks UK to enable, in particular, many of the international artists/companies to tour into South Yorkshire.

Annabel worked on a freelance basis as an Independent Producer & Promoter from 2012 primarily with Gary Clarke including producing COAL (Winner – UK Theatre Award for achievement in dance & A Critics Circle National Dance Award for Best Independent Company) and WASTELAND (sequel to COAL) and together they founded GARY CLARKE COMPANY in 2015 as an independent project-based company, which incorporated in 2021.

Other freelance producing work, with independent artists includes; Wendy Houstoun’s solos – 50 Acts (Winner – TMA Award & Nominated National Dance Critics Award) and Pact with Pointlessness (Winner of a National Dance Critics Award); New Art Club’s Hercules; Charles Linehan’s, A Quarter plus Green and The Shadow Drone Project, Theo Clinkard’s This Bright Field as well as with collaborating Lea Anderson on nurturing new ideas. Annabel also worked on a freelance basis for national organisations Dance Touring Partnership (Project Consultant 2012-2015 ) and Dance4 (Associate Producer 2012-2016 ) as a specialist on mid-scale producing, touring and audience development.

In June 2023 Annabel stepped away from the freelance world to take on the role of Executive Producer and joint CEO of GARY CLARKE COMPANY.
