Why did you want to get involved with DETENTION?
This is a chance to express suppressed feelings, because I began teaching the year before Clause 28 came into effect and shortly after I came out as a gay man. Closeted in school, I chose to come out to my students and face the flak to help counter their prejudices and fears albeit with no support from management or Union due to legal consequences.
